Savory Chef

Scratch Baking is seeking a full-time Savory Chef to help lead and grow our savory program. We’re a bustling, from-scratch bakery known for our pastries, homemade breads, and thoughtfully crafted lunch offerings. As we continue to expand, we’re looking for an experienced, motivated chef to bring creativity, consistency, and leadership to our savory kitchen.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about savory food who enjoys both execution and creativity. The Savory Chef will play a key role in developing recipes, expanding our lunch program, and maintaining consistency across our savory offerings, while working closely alongside our bakers in a shared back-of-house environment. We value quality, communication, and initiative, and we celebrate the contributions of every member of our team.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Schedule and compensation will be discussed during the interview process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and execute recipes for sandwiches, salads, dressings, spreads, and seasonal savory offerings
  • Lead and support daily savory prep with consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Assemble and oversee lunch items during service windows as needed
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards in all prep and production areas
  • Collaborate with bakery leadership to expand and refine Scratch Baking’s savory menu
  • Establish systems and workflows to support growth of the savory program
  • Monitor ingredient quality and communicate prep and ordering needs

Qualifications

  • Formal culinary school training and/or prior professional kitchen experience required
  • Strong foundation in scratch cooking techniques and flavor development
  • Experience with recipe development and menu planning preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-based kitchen
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and pride in your craft

Scratch Baking, a bustling from-scratch bakery and café located in Downtown Milford, is seeking a friendly, energetic Front of House team member to join our café staff. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys customer service, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in creating a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people while staying organized and efficient during busy service periods. We value positivity, reliability, and teamwork, and we believe great service is just as important as great food.

This position is part-time. Weekend availability is required, with Saturday availability being a must, along with 1–2 additional weekdays. Shifts include busy morning and lunch service periods.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with warmth, professionalism, and efficiency
  • Take, process, and fulfill customer orders accurately
  • Prepare espresso and specialty coffee drinks to company standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting front-of-house and counter area
  • Support teammates during high-volume morning and lunch rushes
  • Communicate clearly with both customers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service

Qualifications

  • Prior café or customer service experience preferred, but we are happy to train the right candidate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Scratch Baking, a neighborhood bakery located in Downtown Milford, is seeking an experienced, creative baker to join our growing team. We are looking for a skilled professional with either formal culinary/baking education or prior bakery experience who brings strong technique, pride in craftsmanship, and a collaborative spirit to our kitchen.

This role is ideal for someone confident in production baking who also enjoys contributing creatively and working closely with a talented team. We value consistency, communication, and initiative, and we celebrate the contributions of every baker on our staff.

This position is available part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate. Shifts require early morning start times, and weekend availability is required. Schedule will be determined during the interview process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute bakery recipes with consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Prepare, finish, cut, and package bars, brownies, cookies, and other baked goods
  • Scoop, portion, and manage doughs and batters for daily and future production
  • Pull, prep, and organize products and ingredients for upcoming bakes
  • Safely and efficiently operate bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, and sharp utensils
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to health and food safety standards
  • Work closely with the bakery manager and lead bakers to meet daily production goals
  • Opportunity to grow into specialty dessert finishing, laminated dough production, and bread baking
  • Contribute creatively to product development, seasonal offerings, and workflow improvements

Qualifications

  • Formal culinary or baking school training and/or prior professional bakery experience required
